One of the best stories I've got:

A few years back my wife sent me on a trip out of town and wouldn't tell me why I was going where she sent me. She had my brother in on it. We met up and together wound up at a church where Voddie was preaching. She'd known for years what a hero he is to me and surprised me by arranging for me to finally hear and meet him.

I wound up speaking to him after, giving him a hug, and suddenly crying. I'm not sure what prompted it, but I think it must've been gratitude for how thoroughly God had used his faithfulness in preaching the Word on so many topics that'd shaped my thinking and been a blessing to me and my family.

The next day his heart gave out in the airport as he traveled back home to Gambia and for a good long while I thought he wasn't going to make it. Praise God for preserving him to continue speaking His truth so diligently. We don't have another one quite like Voddie.
