There is not a single athlete greater in history than this, not a single one. I don’t wanna hear Messi (who always had it far easier in comparison when it comes to conditions), NBA players (far less physically tough) or anyone else, this man is it. The greatest of all time.
Goncalo Ramos is literally the only reason Portugal made it this far, and he couldn’t even get a minute off the bench tonight.
Another Martinez masterclass. What a coach!
Dropping Samson is the right decision. If a pitch should neither have bounce nor pace for you to be reliable, your scope is already too narrow.
This "I will let my hands deal with it" technical switch is something he needs to rethink if he wants to succeed beyond 70m boundaries and roads.
WWE fans: AEW will die
CM Punk: This place is a fucking joke
Triple H:
He/Vince McMahon would buy that little piss-ant company
AEW WILL NEVER FUCKING DIE
When I was a kid, these WALTER matches were some of the greatest things I had ever seen in the sport, and after going back to watch them again, they’re even better than I remember. This dude was a fucking demon bro. Gunther is still the best wrestler in the company to me, but dear GOD he was an animal.
On this WALTER dive, I’ve binged a lot of his indie stuff leading up to the NXT UK arc which is what I was most excited to revisit. I can confidently say that I think that this is Walter at his best. The same psychology and structure is there, but his violence/presentation is turned up by 100 and the atmosphere of these big matches add so much.
The commentary team of Nigel/Mauro/Joseph also added a ton to this by being one of the best commentary teams I’ve ever heard. They used to talk about Kobashi, Hansen and Gordy in these matches. Also, Pete Dunne rules, obviously.
So I’m currently in the middle of this WALTER/Gunther deep dive and I’m on Takeover: New York vs Pete Dunne, and son. This commentary team of Mauro Ranallo, Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness is absolutely GODLY. Might be one of my favorite lineups ever
