@joannamoncrieff You misunderstand the error (that depression has a singular cause), which unfortunately translates to misleading people. The basis of treating depression with medications is that boosting limbic modulators can be PART of effective treatment, which IS borne out the evidence.
@AbbyJohnson I presume your doctorate is in homophobia? Or do you even have a doctorate? Because your LinkedIn only lists a masters degree... did you get it from trump “university” lol
An estimated 1 in 5 childbearing persons in the U.S. experience a mental or SUD before, during, or after pregnancy each year. The APA has a new toolkit that includes resources aimed at mental health practitioners. https://t.co/Zs5Y383F7j
. @GovRonDeSantis won't back down on rightwing extremist propaganda because his political ambitions are more important than 28k students with college ambitions learning about #psych while a shortage of #mentalhealth care providers causes THOUSANDS of excess teen deaths each year
Breaking News: The College Board announced on Thursday that Florida school districts should no longer offer AP Psychology, the latest skirmish in its battle with the state’s Department of Education over how to teach race, gender and sexual orientation. https://t.co/gHcJzadChH

@Mrjenkins_MD Medical students, residents, and attendings all have the same length white coats at UChicago... I guess short coat shame is no longer a rite of passage
My heart goes out to those victimized by @KrisKobach’s abuse of power, and even to those brainwashed by #hate and #misinformation. But I try to find hope in the words of #MLK & Theodore Parker: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward #justice.”
KS, MT, & TN have codified into law a fraudulent characterization of #biologicalsex. Major medical organizations (@mt_aap) have appropriately pointed out that definitions based on chromosomes and gamete production reflect misunderstanding of science #antitransgender#antiscience
Kansas' conservative Republican attorney general is moving to prevent transgender people born in the state from changing their birth certificates to reflect their gender identities. https://t.co/XGMSDCxg4R
Psychiatry’s numbers have been increasing yearly since 2011. This year psychiatry was one of just 10 specialties with increases of more than 10% over the last five years. https://t.co/KYYju6b9iw #PsychTwitter#MedTwitter@APApsychiatric
An emotionally powerful interview w/ Dr. Roland Griffiths, one of my greatest inspirations in pursuing #interventionalpsychiatry. He ushered in a paradigm shift in pharmacological treatment of mental suffering, opening the door to progress @JHPsychedelics

The FDA blanket ban began in 1977 when the ability to test blood for #HIV was weak. Blood banks implemented NAT testing in 1999, yet it took 24 years to remove the ban. LONG overdue, but nonetheless gratifying 🏳️🌈#healthjustice
"This policy change is a real victory for three reasons: it's likely to increase the blood supply, it aligns with evidence, and it's an important step towards equity." AMA President-Elect @DoctorJesseMD on @US_FDA's removal of MSM blood donation restrictions. @ChrisJansing
This #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, I’m reflecting on the many stories I've heard around the country about individuals and families who have struggled with #MentalHealth. It gives me hope to see the progress we’ve made in talking about #MentalHealth and investing in treatment. 1/2
We developed and validated an outcomes-oriented #psychometric scale of parental #uncertainty, and I'm excited to share this work tomorrow as a plenary session at @GUMedicine's annual George M. Klober Medical Student Research Day
