Jo Gibson Week - Day 1 We’ll host a new shoulder course Friday 12th May with @ShoulderGeek1 on the post operative shoulder and as a pre-course teaser we’ll share a free resource every day. First out is this great e-book on shoulder rehab. https://t.co/YvsB7VirbE
The challenge of exercise/movement prescription for pain is simplifying it away from an over complicated mechanical view, whilst still respecting the inherent complexity that exists across the biopsychosocial spectrum
My attempt to do this is the 3Ps model
1/
Exercise thought experiment 🤯
I am much more into mediators & mechanisms in rehab than “what’s the best exercise for….”
Can we take the SAME exercise & target it in different ways by changing the context? I think so....
Here is a 🧵 expanding on this 🏋️♀️
The deadlift and the context can be manipulated in many ways to target potential therapeutic mechanisms
Exercises are often seen as static in the way they are performed
Do they have to be? I don't think so
What they are achieving is most important

There's some debate how specific we need to be with our exercise prescription.
But specificity goes beyond just reps/sets/load...
"Specificity" should mean how we tailor our exercises to the individual patient's presentation, to get as close to that "sweet spot" as possible.
