An honour to be guest speaker at the inaugural session of the Creative Kiwi Collective in London. My subject? What it is to be a Kiwi in the UK and how we thrive. It’s going to wonderful to have this platform where we can meet share ideas and help each other.
Immensely proud of my former student, Kalungi Ssebandeke who’s play, Assata Taught Me has just opened at the Riverside Studios. Ten years after its premiere it’s as relevant and powerful as ever. Tremendously committed performances, too.
@louisesburke We done Louise. That’s wonderful news that things are going so well for you. Absolutely well deserved and a fitting reward for all your drive, determination and positivity.
So proud to see my former student, Oli Higginson in American Psycho at the Almeida. Fabulous presence, warmth and charisma on stage. He even got a round of applause in a short scene playing Trump.
Came across a great phrase in a piece about Michelin star chefs: Calm seas never made a skilled sailor. Doesn’t that also apply to actors? You need the scary moments to help you survive the perilous vulnerability of acting live before an audience or on set before a camera crew.
Important note to THE OUTSTANDING ACTOR readers. If you couldn’t access the 20 video clips in the book lately, THE PROBLEM IS NOW FIXED. Bloomsbury apologises and has created a NEW LINK. Just click:https://t.co/1OnAIGeJUr Enjoy watching!
Great to be back at MimeLondon watching Fish Bowl by the French company, Le Fils du Reseau at the Peacocke Theatre. No Marcel Marceau here, but a masterclass in physical comedy and precision that has the audience laughing out loud throughout.
I'm delighted to have an article in the 2026 Actors’ & Performers’ Yearbook (Methuen Drama); A Strategy for Acting Success. Based on my experience of training thousands of actors, it gives my top tips on getting the job, doing exciting work and getting to the top of your game.
Bowled over to see Thinestraat the Raindance Festival in London. This full-length film was made by my former students Alexandra Lubenova (producer), Nathan Hertz (director) and Gavin Stenhouse (actor). Proof of the power of being proactive and making things happen. Well done!
Felt immensely proud to see my former student, Bessie Carter starring alongside her amazing mum, Imelda Staunton in Mrs Warren’s Profession at the #Garrick Theatre. They both brought such a fizzing chemistry to the stage.
One more day to help save this 19th century East Lodge in Ealing’s Lammas Park W5 from being demolished and replaced with a 6-storey block of flats. A dangerous precedent throughout the UK for high-rise buildings in public parks. Please register an objection: scan the QR code.
I try to avoid politics on Twitter X but if Ealing Council approves this monstrous development inside our park, the beautiful 19thcentury lodge house will be demolished. Once gone, we never get these things back. Please protest by using the link on the poster. Every voice helps.
To all of you who bought The Outstanding Actor this year, thank you and I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy 2025, full of exciting acting work. If you found the book helpful, please leave an online review, and always feel free to contact me if there’s anything you want to ask.
A captivating evening at the @Ladbroke Hall last night to witness the unveiling of @Steinway’s Disney hand-painted, limited edition grand piano. And who better to play it than the charismatic @LangLang.
