@thinkx@QuinnyPig@_msw_ Agreed. If anything, @SwamiSivasubram undersold the impact this will have on users of PostgreSQL. TLE is my favorite open source launch of re:Invent because it solves a non-trivial problem for open source users.
My touting of Postgres is not new. At the end of every semester, I tell the students that they should almost always choose Postgres when starting a new application:

@ProjectLincoln But supposing we brought the sharpie inside the body, through an injection or almost a marking, on the lungs, and you're going to have to use medical doctors for that, but it sounds interesting to me...
@Jay_Judkowitz@salil Salesforce is a notable exception and it hasn't been disrupted by open source. Of course SaaS creates a different competitive dynamic to account for...
@Jay_Judkowitz@salil I'd argue that this primarily applies to horizontal infrastructure software companies, not "pure software companies". Apps don't have the same issue. If course most mega platforms (MS, Oracle, VMware,) are infrastructure since the create leverage in the ecosystem above them.
Whoever had “pure play Openstack vendor acquires docker” in the 2015 pool, please report to Ceasar’s Palace to collect your billion dollar payout.
You’re the true unicorn! 🦄
P.S. congrats to @zer0tweets and the Mirantis team! Excited to experience the next open collab act.

GitLab explains why they end support for MySQL. Kenny Johnston For "embedded" database use case supporting single database is typically best option and while not mentioned, PostgreSQL license makes it much better choice for Git…https://t.co/oD9BF9Anxh https://t.co/67JU9hM1aK
