My latest column for @HazardsMagazine is a call to arms for the #union movement. It’s time to sort out the TUEd funding crisis before it’s too late.
Kent FBU are pleased that regional treasurer Dave Turner has stepped up to Acting Executive Council Member for Region 11. Congratulations Big Dave we are so proud of you.
We mobilised as firefighters because protecting our communities means standing up to division, defending unity, and fighting for a society that keeps everyone safe.

Fire doesn’t discriminate, and neither do we. Firefighters protect the public no matter who you are or where you’re from.
The far right wants to divide working people with hate while they slash public services and fill their pockets.
@southeastFBU and Kent officials attended the Together Alliance march today in London. There is no place for racism and the far right in modern Britain. A fantastic turnout by @fbunational solidarity ✊
@southeastFBU region 11 officials attended the Together Alliance in London today. What a great turnout by @fbunational. There is no place for racism or the far right in modern Britain.
The recent large scale incident in central Glasgow is a stark reminder of why a fully funded and properly resourced fire service is not optional.
Commenting on the fire, Steve Wright, FBU general secretary and John McKenzie, FBU Scotland secretary said:
Kent officials today attended @southeastFBU regional committee meeting today. An excellent report by our women’s secretary Carys Wright to the committee. @jw2403
🚨 Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Authority is pushing ahead with a consultation on dangerous cuts:
✂️ Eight fire stations
✂️ 96 firefighter posts
✂️ Eight fire engines
Across the UK, cuts to the fire service are putting communities at risk.
Today, FBU reps gathered in Oxford to express their solidarity with Oxfordshire firefighters, who will be the first to move towards industrial action, and to set out our nationwide fight against the cuts.
We are ready to take on these fights, ready to defend our members, and ready to win investment — not just resist decline.
Thoughts are with our comrade who was injured during last nights significant fire after a building collapse in in Radcliffe
Highlighting once again the risks firefighters take on a daily basis to protect the communities they serve
FBU EC member for South East, Joe Weir moved a motion, on Zane's Law at TUC congress on Monday. The motion was unanimously backed.
TUC affiliated unions have now joined us in the fight to get Zane's Law into legislation, for better landfill regulations to protect our communities.

The fire and rescue service is in desperate need of investment after fifteen years of cuts.
Instead of rolling out the red carpet for divisive politicians, Labour should be focusing on funding our vital public services.
