This afternoon, Amb Joyce M´maitsi paid a courtesy call on Dr. Arlindo das Chagas Rangel, the Chief Executive Officer of Angola Agency for Private Investment and Export Promotion (AIPEX).

AIPEX mandate is to promote private investment, attract foreign direct investment, and increase national exports. It functions as the primary state agency tasked with driving economic growth and diversification in Angola.

The discussions revisited the initial trade engagements between Kenya and Angola in 2019, and the importance of fastracking the establishment of the Angola-Kenya business forum in a bid to bring together entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and form strategic partnerships.

Amb M’maitsi took note of the pivotal point at which Angola is in its efforts to attract investment and fulfil the goal to diversify it’s economy. She also highlighted the strategic location of Kenya as a gateway to the East African region, and the comparative advantages that Kenya provides that would benefit Angola. Agriculture/agribusiness, FINTECH, logistics and telecommunications were identified as sectors of interest to Angola.

The Embassy will continue to liaise with AIPEX, Invest Kenya and the Chambers of Commerce of the two countries to actualize the business forum within this year.

Kenya is honoured to have been elected to the Council of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) for the 2027–2030 term, during the just concluded 31st Session of the ISA Assembly in Kingston, Jamaica.

This election reflects the confidence of the international community in Kenya's longstanding commitment to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) ; rules-based ocean governance; sustainable management of the common heritage of humankind; and advancing maritime scientific research, and an equitable and inclusive stewardship of the world's oceans.

Kenya will remain committed ensuring that the outcomes of the Nairobi Sustainable Blue Economy Conference and, the Mombasa Eleventh Our Ocean Conference - the first ever Our Ocean Conference held in the African region - are implemented in close partnership with ISA members, and in line with UNCLOS mandate. @ForeignOfficeKE @psmining_ke @KenyainJamaica

Agriculture remains central to Kenya's economic transformation, food security and the livelihoods of millions of our people. Strengthening partnerships that accelerate agricultural innovation is therefore an investment in our nation's future.

Today, I signed the Revised Host Country Agreement between the Government of Kenya and the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) at the Railways Headquarters, reaffirming Kenya's commitment to supporting innovation-driven agriculture and sustainable development.

The revised Agreement provides a stronger legal and institutional framework for AATF's operations in Kenya, reinforcing our country's position as a regional hub for agricultural research, technology and innovation.

Through this partnership, we will accelerate the adoption of modern farming technologies, empower smallholder farmers, strengthen food systems and improve agricultural productivity. These efforts will contribute to higher farmer incomes, enhanced food security and greater resilience to climate change, while creating opportunities for sustainable economic growth.

Kenya and Italy today have signed a migration and mobility MOU. This MOU creates a structure for Kazi Majuu to Italy, a framework to combat irregular/illegal migration, and to protect the welfare of Kenyans working in Italy. This win-win arrangement synergizes labour market disparities.

This morning, I paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in Angola, Dr. Amanda Khozi Mukwashi. Dr. Mukwashi previously served in a similar capacity in the Kingdom of Lesotho, and brings a 30-year career in international development and the humanitarian sector.

Our discussions this morning focused on our respective mandates in Angola, and agreed to establish structured collaboration in knowledge building and knowledge sharing on areas of mutual interest.

Esta manhã, fiz uma visita de cortesia à recém-nomeada Coordenadora Residente das Nações Unidas em Angola, Dra. Amanda Khozi Mukwashi. A Dra. Mukwashi já desempenhou uma função semelhante no Reino do Lesoto e traz consigo uma carreira de 30 anos no desenvolvimento internacional e no setor humanitário.

The Minister visited each of the 19 stands of the various missions to sample the delicacies presented. At the Kenya stand, we were glad to share about our menu, serving the Minister ‘chai ya maziwa’ and chapati.

The Embassy of Kenya in Angola joined African Missions in Luanda in celebrating the 63rd anniversary of the African Union. The event brought together guests for an evening of reflection, vibrant culture, rich histories and boundless potential of our beautiful continent.
