Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, OGW, is leading the launch of the Kenya Health Products and Technologies (HPT) Local Manufacturing Strategy 2026–2030.
The strategy provides a roadmap for strengthening local production of health products and technologies, enhancing health security, promoting innovation, creating jobs and expanding sustainable access to essential health commodities. It also advances Kenya’s goal of reducing dependence on imports while positioning the country as a regional hub for health products manufacturing.

Led by National Chair Catherine Shiyenji, the Midwives Association of Kenya delegation is participating in the historic Big Conversation at the ICM Congress 2026, joining global leaders to shape the future of maternal and newborn health worldwide.
Today, we celebrate the spirit of self-determination, resilience, and progress that continues to shape our nation. As we mark this #MadarakaDay, we also recognize the dedication of #midwives and all healthcare workers whose service strengthens families, safeguards lives.
Dr. Eunice Atsali, Vice President of the Midwives Association of Kenya, delivered a powerful and inspiring presentation on “Becoming a Champion of Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) Advocacy.”
She challenged participants to move beyond clinical competence into active advocacy - amplifying awareness, strengthening community engagement, and championing systems that prioritize early detection and rapid response to PPH.
Her message emphasized the critical role of healthcare providers as advocates for change, leadership, and accountability in maternal health outcomes.
Ending PPH is not only a clinical goal, but also a movement driven by voices committed to saving mothers’ lives.
