Kenya and Ethiopia have signed seven Memoranda of Understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

They include cooperation in cultural development, tourism and wildlife, the blue economy, correctional services, petroleum and energy development, and capacity building in the public service.

Construction of the Homabay pier in the county of Homabay is taking shape as KPA steps up efforts to rehabilitate feeder ports within Lake Victoria.

The scope of works at the Homabay pier encompasses construction of the jetty, access roads, ferry ramp, drainage, and walkways.

Kendu Bay, Asembo Bay and Sena pier on Mfangano island are other feeder ports that will be revitalized in phase one with the progress at design stage.

Phase two of the project will cover Sio, Luanda K’Otieno, Port Victoria in Busia, Muhuru Bay and Sori Karungu in Migori county.

The piers once complete will enhance trade and economic activity within the region by facilitating cargo and passenger movement using ferries and water buses.
