Hey @realDonaldTrump no one fucking likes you.
Especially me.

Players are taking a knee because they're hurting. They're in emotional pain. You know what kind of person gets mad when someone hurts?

17) If you’re curious, check out https://t.co/Xd7Na22nAn. Outreach is always better than outrage. 🇺🇸

16) There will be many more times when direct support of vets will be needed. We’ll all have a chance to continue showing our appreciation.

15) I just thought that maybe the experiences that have shaped my outlook might help shape yours.

14) Everybody with a stance on this issue has their heart in the right place. Nobody doesn’t respect and admire our fighting men and women.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

13) You can’t slight “the military.” If you could, that would mean you could provide aftercare in one swoop, and you can’t. I wish we could.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

12) That’s what makes caring for our vets such an ongoing challenge; its so difficult to assess their needs en masse. Total individuality.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

11) ‘The military’ is everywhere. They’re at the games, both in the stands and on staff. Many are overseas, many more have reintegrated.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

10) I’m not asking you to reverse your position in any direction. This is with a bigger picture in mind.

9) Every single combat vet, active military personnel, their parent, sibling and spouse is different. Just like us.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

8) Some will say it’s atrocious. Some vets share the very same perspectives that those who have taken a knee do.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

7) Are there vets who view taking a knee as disrespectful to them? Certainly. There are also some who will say that’s what they fought for.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

6) Well, there isn’t really any one person who does. And this is my point: combat vets are as different from one another as all Americans.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

5) Why should I be talking to you about this instead of someone who represents how the military feels directly?

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

4) It would have been easier if there was a thread that ran between them, because then it would be easier to build one program to help.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

3) I’ve met with hundreds of vets, listening to their stories. The biggest takeaway for me has been how no 2 people (or stories) were alike.

[John Mayer @JohnMayer]

2) Since 2009 I have overseen a program that helps care for returning combat vets with a focus on PTSD/TBI, among other challenges.

1) (THREAD) I’d like to share a few thoughts with you as it pertains to kneeling during the Anthem and disrespect to the military.
