If we can’t laugh at people, who have everything to live for, making a completely unforced error, to satisfy their own massive egos… I’m not sure what comedy is anymore.
Former President Obama just summed up the Gun debate in under a minute:
"I think somehow — and there are a lot of historical reasons for this — gun ownership in this country became an ideological issue, and a partisan issue, in ways that it shouldn't be. It has become sort of a proxy for arguments about our culture wars, you know? Urban versus rural. Race is always an element in these issues. Issues of class and education, and so forth.
Instead of just taking a very practical approach, like we do, let's say, for example, with car safety, where we say, 'All right, we got a bunch of accidents. Let's have seat belts. And let's make cars safer. And let's engineer our roads so that we prevent them. Instead of thinking about it in a very pragmatic way, we end up really arguing about identity, and emotion, and all kinds of stuff that does not have to do with keeping our children safe."
I'd love to hear both sides of the political spectrum weigh in on this clip.
I have posted this before but ..
26 years ago, a gunman entered
Dunblane Primary School in Scotland,
killing 16 kids and a teacher. The UK
govt responded by enacting tight gun
control legislation. In the 9400+ days
since, there have been a total of O
school shootings in the UK.
This country is really more concerned with “protecting” children from drag queens and TikTok before taking steps to protect them from being murdered in their classroom?! Hmm the math isn’t mathing
THIS is the man who was just arrested for child sex crimes. Was he in drag reading in libraries?
No. Surprise, surprise, he was a YOUTH PASTOR. For a church. In Texas.
But was he the only pastor in America arrested recently for this charge? No. Not even close.
There have been two more cases. In just the last week alone. In the SAME COUNTY.
I'm sure now Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis and every other Republican will completely shift their focus to banning right-wing Christians from going anywhere near kids.
Because clearly they should leave those of us in the LGBT+ community alone.
Eleven years ago, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was pursued, shot, and killed by an armed vigilante while walking home from a Florida convenience store. Trayvon’s family will never receive justice—in part because of Florida’s Shoot First law, which essentially makes murder legal. #flapol
