I’ve always thought of Rudeus’ journey similar to the “becoming human” trope. I’m not saying his previous life wasn’t human, but the conscious decisions he makes to change in this life and his new understandings of family, emotion, and morality are what really sell me on this.

Mikasa hate is just so surface level and performative. If Mikasa was a male character no one would be hating on her. She would be worshipped. We hv examples in the story itself.
