"Participating in Exploring The Future documentary was a unique experience for me. I once asked myself: if I hadn't become an actor, what kind of life would I probably be living? During filming, I went to places I wouldn't normally have the opportunity to visit, learning and working alongside professional engineers. This simple and pure state of mind was very relaxing.
This time, I met many people I had never met before. They were all very pure and sincere. Whether it was the engineers, like Engineer Wang and Captain Wei… or the partners from WildAid and Discovery, everytime I saw and heard them passionately sharing their professional ideals and visions, I could see sincerity, honesty, and purity in their eyes. Only after truly experiencing it did I realize that frontline energy and environmental work is even harder and monotonous than I had imagined. Captain Wei, for example, is stationed at his post year-round, rarely able to spend time with his family, only able to alleviate his longing by watching videos of his daughter on his phone. But I never sensed any negativity in them; on the contrary, they were always full of energy. This made me understand even more that when people are doing what they truly love, they don't feel it's hard work, and I am no exception.
Over the past few years, I’ve always felt the strength given to me by the people who support me. I also hope to do meaningful things, to give back to society and to everyone in whatever way I can. What I wanted to do this time was let more people understand energy transition. It's actually not far away from us; it's hidden within every little detail of our daily life. Everyone can pay attention to and participate in low-carbon living such as turning off lights when not in use, choosing green transportation, and recycling waste… These small actions, when gathered together, become a tremendous force that pushes the future forward. I've seen people start paying attention to energy transition and climate action after watching Exploring The Future, and actively practice low-carbon habits in their daily lives. I think that is the meaning behind what we are doing.
Finally, I want to thank all the staff who contributed to this documentary. I know it represents the hard work and dedication of many people. Thank you to the technical guidance unit, the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment; the production team WildAid and Discovery Channel; and the broadcasting platform Bilibili! Also thank you to the viewers who have supported me and Exploring the Future. Together we've accomplished something very meaningful.
Although the three episodes of Exploring The Future have been released, I hope that more people will learn about our country's proactive efforts to address climate change. I will always be proud to be Chinese! 🇨🇳"
