Week 12- A hierarchal, competitive culture can lead to a workplace where staff achieve through obtaining zero-sum outcomes, this competitive nature may make for successful projects, but unhappy staff, collaboration should be encouraged.

Week 12- Positive-sum outcomes can only be easily achieved where aims are aligned. These need to be defined to ensure that team members are 'on the same page'. I believe a strong company vision and mission can help achieve this.

Week 11- Leaders must use constructive dissent with care; pragmatic responsible leaders with dedicated followers may succeed where structures of anarchy, unclear aims and lack of leadership could spell disaster.

Week 11- Constructive dissent provides opportunity for healthy debate and can be employed in ideating and innovating to ensure the best outcomes. Respect, openness and a common mission are important for successful constructive dissent.

Week 10- Relationship building is important in group leadership- with increased technological connectivity and the rise of WFH leaders will need to adapt their approach to grow and develop professional relationships with, and between, staff.

Week 10 highlighted that in an increasingly more networked society it is important for business leaders to consider and collaborate with customers as the consumer voice is amplified through social media platforms, online review sites and forums.

Techniques from 'spirit of collaboration' encourage an open , facilitative approach with 'collaborative thuggery' requiring more manipulative techniques. I think both must work hand-in-hand to lead teams with diverse thinkers.

Week 9- Linden (2013) highlights important qualities for collaborative leaders including seeking win-win solutions. This can be difficult if teams are unable to compromise or reach consensus, a more directive style may be necessary here.

@ClouOUB329 Hey Clare, I think that constantly changing could weaken a leader's authority if they are seen to frequently make the wrong calls, I think a leader adapting to circumstances also needs to take care to treat employees equally in these situations or face bigger problems!
Week 8- It is important for leaders to adapt to the staff, environments and circumstances in which they operate to achieve the best outcomes, this requires flexibility and the adoption of different styles of leadership- known as situational leadership.

Lots of important learning in week 8- diverse teams in the workplace can produce creative and innovative solutions by offering unique perspectives and bringing unique ideas to the table, this shouldn't be underestimated in modern workplaces

Week 7 has highlighted that when dealing with difficult situations or individuals it is often more important to focus inwards; on our own communication strategies, reactions and expectation rather than on 'fixing others'.

Week 7 explored the difference between task-focused management and people-focused leadership. Being empathetic and supportive of staff can help advance leadership practice by encouraging and inspiring, rather than directing and delegating #OUB329#Leadership#Management
What do we reckon guys? Accident, hack or marketing? and if marketing, do you think it's wise to legitimise something that looks so much like phishing? I'd like to hear from some of my OU friends on this one!
@stephyrauhl@candykittens If its marketing it'll probably work, it def got us all talking- it just feels a bit irresponsible to me to make something that looks so much like phishing- could blur the lines for some who are less internet savvy and result in them falling for the next phishing email they get
@DanielHughes5@candykittens I'm going to go against the grain and say I really dislike this, so many people get caught out by phishing attempts per year it just seems irresponsible to make something that looks like a phishing attempt but that is actually legitimate
@hannah_summer @candykittens@JamieLaing_UK I really don't like this as a marketing attempt, so many people fall for phishing attempts, sending out something that looks so much like one but that is legitimate seems a bit irresponsible...
