It's very telling when the people who want you to "support Black owned" projects are quick to be dismissive and patronising towards the Black ppl they feel entitled to get support from.

"They don't even understand what's going on" okay well then explaining the process is evidently an important aspect of the marketing. Bring ppl on the journey.

Building relationships with the customer base should be valued imo. Supporting Black goes both ways! Respect, value and hold Black customers in high regard.
