Good Morning, well it didn’t work out yesterday 😢, firstly I want to say a big thank you 🙏 to the 925 electors who put a ❎ , ✅ or mark against my name also a big round of applause 👏 to officers/staff who made Thursday’s election happen & yesterday’s count.
I am very happy 😊 to have come 3rd and polled strongly campaigning positively on local issues (I wouldn’t have changed a thing about my campaign).
A couple of points:
1. sadly I couldn’t compete (due to election spending limits for candidates) with the national spending campaigns (via post) from both Reform & Greens which allowed/enabled them to communicate more effectively with the electorate and IMO make a big difference.
2. I admit on the doorstep it was difficult to cut through that this was a local election and not a referendum on this awful Labour Government or how to deal with migration, the NHS, crime, and the cost of living.
Finally I warmly congratulated Joe (Kerrison) yesterday on his election to @NorfolkCC, I look forward to working with him in my existing @SNorfolkCouncil role at my various parish councils over the coming months. I talked with Joe at length at the count yesterday he is young, keen, lives & works in Harleston and I will hope bring fresh and imaginative ideas to how will continue to make East Depwade & the wider Waveney Valley a great place to live, work & enjoy as well as contributing to the wider debate on how local government needs to adapt/change.
