“This is completely winnable, and it would be a sea change in the country if Gina Hinojosa wins the governorship of Texas. There’s every reason to believe that she can and will with the right support," said Pritzker.

The Illinois governor said that Hinojosa's campaign had received “not enough attention” on the national stage. He previously donated $200,000 to her campaign.

The DGA's $1 million matching donation is particularly noteworthy because it marks the organization's first financial investment in the Texas gubernatorial race this cycle, a clear sign that they now see it as winnable. As Trump's radioactive brand sinks the Republican Party brand deeper and deeper into the muck, it appears increasingly likely that Texas could flip blue.

A recent New York Times/Siena poll put Hinojosa at 49% and Abbott at 46% among likely voters — a staggering reversal for the incumbent Republican governor. For context, Democrats have not won a statewide race in Texas since 1994.

Pritzker, who has an estimated $4.2 billion, is one of the very few good billionaires because he puts his money to work for the American people. Since the beginning of 2025, he has donated over $38 million to Democratic candidates and organizations. This man believes in putting his money where his mouth is.

In addition to being good politics, Pritzker's material support of Hinojosa has an added wrinkle. He and Abbott have repeatedly clashed in the past. Abbott bused migrants to Chicago in a deeply inhumane PR stunt, Pritzker supported the Texas Democrats who fled the state during Abbott's gerrymandering push in 2025, and Abbott authorized the deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to aid in Trump's brutal immigration crackdown.

🚨 BREAKING: Texas state Rep. Gina Hinojosa has filed an official request to inspect unredacted communications between Gov. Greg Abbott’s office and Elon Musk and his companies, after roughly 1,400 pages of records released last year were heavily redacted.

The state previously argued that portions of the communications could be withheld because they contained “intimate and embarrassing information.”

In a letter sent to Abbott’s office today, Hinojosa invokes a provision of the Texas Public Information Act governing information requested by lawmakers for legislative purposes. She is seeking the same records previously released to the Texas Newsroom, but “without any redactions whatsoever,” including material deemed “embarrassing” or “intimate.”

Hinojosa says the records could shed new light on Musk’s relationship with Abbott, including his companies’ lucrative state contracts and tax incentives, as well as Musk’s campaign contributions. She argues Musk has turned Texas into a corporate playground and says greater transparency is needed to expose what she describes as corruption in Abbott’s relationship with powerful tech interests.

She is requesting that Abbott’s office arrange an inspection of both the redacted and unredacted records on or around October 13.

Now Texans may finally learn what was considered so “intimate and embarrassing” that it was kept from public view.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are pouring in for 81-year-old Donald Johnson after the internet found out he was working 14-hour days to help pay for his wife's cancer treatment.

For the past three years, Johnson has delivered lost luggage after struggling to find other work to cover their bills, all while helping care for Josephine, his wife of 57 years.

Then a North Texas resident saw him struggling with the bags and decided to step in, launching a GoFundMe to help with the couple's medical bills and give Johnson a chance to finally retire.

Now, strangers have raised more than $270,000 for the couple.

Johnson says the support could finally let him put down the luggage and spend more time where he wants to be: by his wife's side.
