For me this reiterates the importance of focusing on supporting #collaboration to work holistically in landscapes, and to not make assumptions about what framings, data and activities will help that for #sustainability
Sharing our new paper "Natural capital approaches to decision-making for collaborative landscape governance" led by
Jayne Glass also supported by @profmarkreed , Leo Peskett & Brady Stevens. https://t.co/LJaSGFXWM4
They were generally valued for co-producing plans and enroling new partners; they all considered nature in terms of assets and the services it can produce, but monetary #valuation wasn't always key.
I'd particularly like to encourage submissions for our session on #Resilience to #climate extremes - open to submissions from all disciplinary perspectives - deadline 28th Feb.
The @Alternet_Europe 2025 conference is coming soon in May - a great venue for pan-european networking developments on socio-#ecological science and management. The theme this year is Transformative change for #biodiversity https://t.co/BbbhT1wNF1 #transformation
Both are arise from our work on the @euMERLINproject and also related @SGRESAS funded strategic research, so reflect our partnerships with diverse academic and practitioner colleagues – best wishes to our nature-based friends for 2025!
To round off 2024, I’m very happy to share 2 papers from our work on #Nature-Based Solutions: both aim to support and refine practices in line with the @IUCN global standard for NbS. Getting this right, at scale, is essential for both people and nature. #Sustainability
One, led by @EstherCarmen5, provides a “A transformations framework for mainstreaming a nature-based solutions approach”, in the Nature-Based Solutions journal https://t.co/ZRIkyxvolY
Just chuckling from reading "a beginner's guide to nature conservation" by @Global_Garden0 in the Niche mag by @BritishEcolSoc Such a funny & insightful guide to the complexity of UK nature-related public sector orgs . Thanks Peter!
Super-happy to share the first paper from my PhD, published in ERSS🧵
We explore how UK politicians view their responsibility to lead by example with low-carbon behaviour (or not)

Interesting call to review international conventions. Those working to safeguard nature and the environment are understandably protective of institutions and scant resources: but we need to be able to reflect on when it is best to adapt, merge or stop.
A growing number of environmental institutions are “zombies”—done with their job, yet persisting for own survival. They create illusions and block more relevant institutions. It’s time for them to exit with dignity. @IWC_int could set an example.

Looking forward to considering if/how natural capital concepts enable or impede changes in decision making - and learning about the connection with other subjects - next Monday at #EASST4S2024
For anyone going to #EASST4S2024 next week interested in #assetization, come join our 3 sessions on Tuesday - "Assetization as techno-economic lockin" #sts
