have had a similar experience when I was building AR glasses during my uni, had to get the attention of some senior folks to try and move things forward but since we were dealing with latest Qualcomm chips, the process was extremely slow/bureaucratic and there was no other better chip at the time for our specs. Took a few months but we got something in place
