#Ethiopia: Reports indicate that 10+ Orthodox Christians were killed, dozens were abducted, and a priest was injured in the Shirka & Honkolo districts of the Oromia Region by government-backed Oromo Islamists. The killings of Christians in 🇪🇹 under the Abiy Ahmed regime continue.
"The regime in Ethiopia has historically utilized prolonged detention and court proceedings while being mistreated during detention against political advocates and opposition figures leading to their death or total incapacitation, as seen in the case of the late Prof. Asrat Woldeyes.
There are already signs of this happening with the severe health deterioration Dr. Wondwossen Assefa is facing while in detention. " - @GPEthiopia
What more needs to be said! If they are not released soon what we are facing is the grim reality of losing them all! Release them while they are alive! This is a known tactic, you will all be accountable for knowingly subjecting them to treatments that will eventually cause their death. This is no different from murder! The only difference is the implicit hope of freedom is more agonizing for friends, family, the people that love them and themselves! While knowing full well you are killing them slowly with no due process of law convicting them to such harsh injustice!
RELEASE THEM NOW!

☦️ It takes humility and courage Indeed! Last year Deacon Mihret had a brief debate (⬇️) over baptism and Eucharist with the Kenechltes in which their stance and the way how they treated Deacon Mihret was highly criticized.

Recently Stuart did say that his view has shifted to the middle on Eucharist. Tomorrow at 8PM Deacon Mihret and Stuart are scheduled to hold a courteous discussion.

This is how a civilized mind operates.
Acknowledge wrongdoings, apologize and move on.
I commend her for allowing herself into a growing curve.

My statement with @RepMcGovern and @RepGaramendi:
We are deeply alarmed by increasing violence in Ethiopia, including the Ethiopian military strike last week on an aid convoy delivering assistance in Tigray.
The 2022 Pretoria Agreement that silenced the guns in Northern Ethiopia committed all parties to ceasing hostilities, protecting civilians, allowing humanitarian access to those affected, and undertaking comprehensive transitional justice to hold those responsible for human rights abuses and violations responsible. Unfortunately, this agreement has not been upheld, and these conditions have not been met.
This increased conflict threatens the entire country and the region as a whole, which is already reeling from the previous war in Northern Ethiopia and the devastating conflict in Sudan. Ordinary civilians are bearing the brunt of this violence.
We urge all parties in Ethiopia to immediately recommit to peace negotiations and uphold their responsibilities under the Pretoria Agreement. Ethiopia’s neighbors and the international community must work to defuse tensions and facilitate peace.
We also urge the U.S. State Department to work with all parties to end the violence and hold those responsible accountable. The people of Ethiopia deserve peace and justice.
