So building lots more council houses, rivalling the number built in the post-war era, should be the nation's top priority, says Andy Burnham.

Around 5m council houses were built post-war. To build that number today would cost about £1.3 trillion. If he borrowed £40bn to finance council house building, as he earlier suggested, then that would cover the construction of only 150,000 new council houses.

Britain's top economic problems are neither a shortage of council housing nor a shortage of public borrowing. Burnham's plans are pure fantasy.

His devolution plans are just as irrelevant. Transferring power from low-grade central politicians to even lower-grade regional or local politicians doesn't achieve anything, rather the reverse, as the Scottish & Welsh examples have shown.

"People need to be able to look forward to a holiday with the kids," he says, while supporting a new holiday tax that will make holidays unaffordable for some. Pure hypocrisy.

In yet another Orwellian move, the Government announced in a green paper this week that it wants to decide what news people can and cannot see, with plans to push approved outlets to the top of social media feeds.

Ministers should not be deciding which news sources the public read — especially in an era when three-quarters of under-25s say they get their news from social media.

As written in The Times, “In a state-sponsored ­regime in which inconvenient news was pushed out of view, would the grooming gangs scandal or the excesses of transgender ideology ever have come to light? You shouldn’t choose to trust ­everything you read online; but you shouldn’t trust the state to make the choice for you, either”.

This is dystopian.

They pay for the private education of their kids AND the education of state school kids through existing taxation.

5 of these men are my perpetrators that groomed and raped me from the age of 11 ….

It took an 10 year investigation with the NCA to finally get them to court and go to trial, all 5 was found guilty on all charges against me this was for the sexual assaults, rape and trafficking me around England.

They was found guilty in 2024 with sentencing ranging from 6 years to 25 years for the abuse they inflicted upon me.

The NCA said in their statement this was some of the most horrific and worse abuse they have investigated since the investigation started.

2 years later I’ve got a letter saying that their prison sentences could be cut by 33% and have early release!!!! How is that possible how can they do that to us survivors it’s like been let down all over again !!!

The Labour Party are happy to let some of the most dangerous monsters back on to our streets to further abuse more children!!!

I can’t make sense of it all that hard work and determination to get justice for it to be laughed at when in reality us survivors have the real sentence it’s a lifetime sentence and it’s not fair !!!
