Please don’t let the hypocrisies of those who claim Christ keep you from Christ. Numbers 23:19 says God is not a human that he should lie or a son of man that he should change his mind. He is not us. We must know Jesus firsthand so we recognize who he is and who he’s not.
In his gospel, Luke lists all the political & religious leaders in power & then notes how the word of God bypassed them and came to John in the wilderness.
The locus of God’s presence & activity is not found in the corridors of great power.

A major problem for Christianity is Jesus. A lot of Christians want a Christianity without a Crucified Christ and without a calling to conform to the Cruciform image of Christ.
@gpackiam Awesome sessions in Peterborough, Glenn! Thanks for all you brought (and for the brief chat after your session). Enjoy the rest of your time!
@JusBrierley@MikeCosper This was a great episode, Justin. Definitely not always easy listening, but important listening for any of us who serve the church. Thanks for all you do.
To worship God, we need to use the full range of our being. We can’t just agree with good theology. He is worthy of full engagement, full emotion, full energy. But how do we guard against emotionalism? If you plan services, here’s some helpful questions to ask:
"No man ever became holy by chance.
There must be resolve, a desire, a panting after obedience to God, or else we shall never have it."
— Charles Spurgeon
About a 1/3 of the Psalms are lament psalms. 2 implications:
(1) God really cares about your sadness and provides words for you to say in seasons when words don’t come easy.
(2) The Bible assumes sadness/grief is common enough that you will need a diverse amount of resources.
Public ministry should be an extension of private integrity. May there be a familiarity with His Presence in secret that carries over to the stage. The stage without the secret place is simply a show.
But the resurrected Jesus comes, and invites me to confess once again my love.
Jesus doesn’t need to confess his love to Peter because it’s never wavered. But in asking Peter to confess his love once again, he offers a way to live free from self-condemnation.
