Hi I'm Kevin and here is why I'm building valulyse:
I've been investing in stocks since 2008. Right in the middle of the financial crisis, which was not a great time to start. But it taught me early that understanding the actual business behind a stock is what separates real decisions from just hoping for the best.
For years, my research process was a mess. I'd manually copy numbers from annual reports into Excel, build charts from scratch, try to track trends across 10-15 years of data. Every quarter, the same thing again.
The online tools didn't help. The cheap ones gave you surface-level data that didn't actually answer anything. The good ones cost a few hundred euros a month, which is hard to justify as a private investor. Most were just cluttered dashboards full of ads, where you spent more time navigating than analyzing.
So I started writing my own scripts. Then actual tools. Then more tools. At some point I had a full research setup that worked better than anything I'd tried before.
That toolbox became valulyse.
valulyse turns raw financial data into clean, interactive visualizations. No stock tips, no ratings, no signals. Just the tools and data to understand a company properly, so you can make your own call. Currently in beta and actively being built.
The goal: make it the most complete visual research platform for retail investors. Everything in one place, actually visual, no spreadsheet chaos.
I'm documenting the entire journey here as I go. New features, what's working, what's not, technical decisions, business decisions, and whatever I learn along the way as a solo founder.
If that sounds useful, follow along.
What's the one thing that frustrates you most about the stock research tools you use right now?
Is it just me, or have you also noticed that Claude Opus 4.7 is much worse than Opus 4.6? Opus 4.7 forgets context much faster and is also much worse when it comes to web design... Just my opinion, what about you?
Day 33 #BuildInPublic
Happy Monday! Have you ever had Claude scan your repository for old, unused code? You'd be surprised how much he finds. I'll be tackling that cleanup today.

Day 30 #BuildInPublic
Okay, so the positive thing is that I can clearly see an effect from my landing pages, which I released about a month ago. Since then, I haven't done anything else regarding landing pages, and I'm really glad that the impressions still don't seem to be dropping to zero.
