We also can’t afford to lose certain key businesses within the ecosystem. I don’t know what @TapTools revenue looks like but I’m assuming it’s not enough to cover the costs of the free tier.

Hopefully this will change at some point. But I don’t see why we should abandon some of the ecosystem’s core projects simply because they haven’t achieved financial sustainability yet. The few projects that are financially sustainable are the exception not the rule (particularly given the current market conditions).

I’m not advocating that we keep zombie projects alive forever. But I’m guessing TapTools is probably used by the majority of active Cardano users. It is a core component of our DeFi ecosystem.

I can’t imagine the costs of keeping it going are prohibitively expensive. I’d love to see the CF take a more active role in supporting some of these businesses, particularly during the depths of the bear market, when resources are stretched thin.

The CF is one of the ecosystem’s most well-resourced entities. It is all well and good for the CF to say that businesses must be sustainable or else die off. But don’t forget that the CF itself is subsidised by ADA staking, generating around $4 million per year even at the current prices.
