Day 5 of building an app studio to $100K MRR.
$197 MRR.
6 subscribers.
842 customers.
And somehow this $7.99 notification still hits harder than the number on the dashboard.
Someone downloaded something I built, decided it was worth paying for…
Then a week later had the option to leave and paid again.
That’s the part of building apps I underestimated.
Getting a download is cool.
Getting a purchase is better.
Getting a renewal means you might actually be creating something people value.
I’m still basically at $0 compared to the $100K MRR goal.
But every one of these notifications is proof that the machine works.
Now I just need to make it work 500x bigger.
$197 → $100,000 MRR.
See you tomorrow.
I’m 23 and I only recently started building mobile apps.
My first app is close to $200 MRR.
Is $200 MRR impressive?
Not really.
But someone on the internet paid for something I built.
Then another person did.
Then another.
And that completely changed how I think about building.
I used to think the hard part was writing the code.
It’s not.
You can spend 12 hours:
— redesigning your onboarding
— changing button colors
— obsessing over animations
— adding features nobody asked for
— rebuilding shit that already works
And convince yourself you had a productive day.
Meanwhile, you talked to 0 users and made 0 attempts to get your product in front of new people.
I’m realizing that building apps is less about how many hours you work and more about what you spend those hours doing.
Right now my numbers are tiny:
841 customers.
6 paying subscribers.
~$200 MRR.
$100K MRR goal.
I have an absurd amount left to learn.
But my focus is simple:
Build → distribute → listen → iterate → repeat.
Not “work” for 12 hours just to feel productive.
Day 4 of building an app studio to $100K MRR.
I spent $856.71 testing AI UGC on Meta Ads for my app.
The result?
554 installs at ~$1.55 each.
$171 in revenue.
$165 MRR.
Cheap installs ≠ a profitable acquisition channel.
So I turned the ads off.
Instead of burning more money trying to force paid acquisition to work, I’m going back to organic.
The plan:
Find content formats that consistently get attention AND convert organically → then turn the winners into ads.
Organic is now my testing ground. Paid ads will be the amplifier.
Day 2 of building an app studio to $100K MRR.
Day 3 of building an app studio to $100K MRR.
Yesterday: $165 MRR
Today: $197 MRR
Goal: $100,000 MRR
I’m 0.197% of the way there.
And that’s the point.
Too many people get into apps because they see screenshots of founders doing $50K, $100K, even $1M+ a month and think they found a get-rich-quick scheme.
You probably didn’t.
I have 841 customers.
6 active subscribers.
$197 MRR.
There’s an enormous gap between building an app and building a generational company.
I’m going into this expecting it could take 5–10 years, hundreds of experiments, failed apps, bad marketing campaigns, and a ridiculous amount of iteration.
If it happens faster, great.
But I’d rather have a 10-year mindset and win in 3 than have a 3-month mindset and quit in 6.
$197 → $100,000 MRR.
See you tomorrow.
@yevloop Literally and the crazy part is that my marketing is completely off. I am even thinking about pivoting so I can dump 10k into an app with lower churn.
@gaze25501 It actually is worst without trial, when I had trials I have a 25% conversion and had a 1.0 ROAS. I was testing without trials and no one was buying so I thought my onboarding and paywall might be the issue which I will improve and go back to free trial.
Day 1 of building an app studio to $100K MRR.
This is my first post on X.
Starting from $0. The goal is to build, launch, and scale apps to millions in revenue.
I’m documenting everything publicly:
— What I build
— What works
— What fails
— Revenue + growth
— Lessons learned
