@jerkstoreclerk_ @danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 Potentially an Agreed on % of ticket sales or something related to the revenues the event produces. Something like this is necessary to ensure the UFC retains top talent.
The UFC fighter pay is a major issue. This is a solution model where fighters are paid a “retainer” similar to that of an attorney just for being on contract. They then can negotiate PPV earnings as “commissions”. Their cost would be ~8.5% of rev @danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18
@SpartanPride78 @patmiletich@danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 And even if it was 20% of revenues added into the 8.5% for fighter “retainer fees” the UFC would be in healthy position with the expenses of their workers
@SpartanPride78 @patmiletich@danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 Exactly. They prenegotiate a payout % so the fighters are incentivized to promote and the UFC insulated themselves from events that don’t sell.
@patmiletich@ShadyKing357@danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 Totally agree with you and it is my favorite athlete story. I’d venture to say that concept is not feasible for the UFC in today’s world especially given how mainstream it’s become. Fighter demands definitely are increasing and the UFC must respond somehow
@ryanharrison61@patmiletich@danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 It would be a restructure so everyone on contract gets paid atleast enough to live. For reference, the average pay of a fighter is ~138k but that is inflated by the millions the FEW superstars make. Omit the stars and fighters make peanuts
@ShadyKing357@patmiletich@danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 The fighters will get their money, the upside is still there. This literally is guaranteed income for all competitors in the ufc so they don’t live in poverty. The big pay days come from negotiating their pay out rates based on % of ppv/ticket sales. Incentivizing then to promote
@ryanharrison61@patmiletich@danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 It is all based on appearances. The average ufc fighter makes ~135k/yr but that is weighted heavily by Conor and the like. This would allow fighters to have steady income and still be able to get the upside from a huge event on a pre-negotiated rate of PPV/ticket sales
Fighters also eligible for bonuses and other rewards for being part of the company. They are paid out at their respective annual rate for the duration of their contract. Promotions in rankings=promotion in pay
@danawhite@joerogan@Zaclaw18 by doing this, fighters will be in a structure that is similar to the progression of minor leagues to majors in other sports. Fighters will also have the means to train and recover better
