I never thought it would be #SaveTheCaps, 8 years after this tweet. But here we are now….
Like when we rallied around #SaveTheCrew. It’s time to do the same for Vancouver Whitecaps #VWFC 💙🤍⚽️
A couple of things:
1. It's been awhile so I hope this finds you and your loved ones in good health and good spirits.
2. The world is a better place with the Whitecaps in Vancouver.
SAVE THE CAPS!
This.
If your owner votes YES, you need to boycott MLS. Let a decision like this be the end of this shambolic league once and for all. These owners have never understood why they don’t make more money - well they don’t understand what makes the sport appealing.
@thesoccerdon
Losing the Whitecaps would mean a significant economic hit to Vancouver and British Columbia from matchday spending and jobs to tourism and global exposure.
But beyond the dollars, it’s also about identity. Cities that grow don’t let major league teams walk away.
We should be asking how to structure a solution, public-private, minority stake, new ownership, not why it’s too hard.
#SaveTheCaps
It’s been a quite some time since @MLS has made Commissioner Don Garber available to the Vancouver media - seems like the moment has arrived…time for clarification on a few fronts.
If able, join us for a public demonstration at the FIFA Congress tomorrow morning. This is our opportunity to be seen in front of the world's media.
Be at the marked location with your #SaveTheCaps items.
Please respect any security cordons and keep it respectful and peaceful.
The line of messaging from everyone in the BC Government, including Premier David Eby, has been consistent towards the club and league: What do the Whitecaps actually need in order to stay in Vancouver?
