STORM UPDATE … Overall no major changes with my original forecasts .
Will make slight adjustments
#1 Storm is accelerating meaning precipitation moves in quicker on Saturday .. by mid day in Philly a light mix of snow & sleet
From 4-5pm will see ALL rain in Philly & SNJ . Windswept heavy rains through 2am ..
Sunday : Windy & cold with flurries or scattered snow showers possible .. temps hold steady around 37
Eagles / Giants : Windy & Cold .
Kick off temp 35
Wind NW 10-20mph
Skies : Flurries possible
MY SNOW PREDICTIONS FOR THE DISTANT N&W suburbs remain the same , however precipitation moves in quicker .. see yesterdays summary
BOSTON .. is still a tough forecast challenge as the storm really doesn’t rapidly deepen until off the Long Island coast & elongates with dumb belling effect trailing low that could mean heavy snow outcome for Boston on Sunday .. TBD .. challenge forecast update tomorrow
NYC : Same as Philly basically with mix changing to all rain late Saturday afternoon , early evening . little if any accumulation
NOR’EASTER 1PM UPDATE
Currently the way the models are shaping up & blending , still believe forecast track will keep coastal storm off the coast meaning a colder solution , from Philly to NYC . HOWEVER , still do not see a deep layering of arctic air . The track as it stands NOW would take an intensifying storm just off the Chesapeake bay between 9-12 Pm Saturday night and track to a position just off the SNJ coast 3am Sunday AM , then off Montauk LI by 9AM Sunday morning . Normally this track scenario would result in Heavy snow for Philly & NYC . HOWEVER deep layered arctic air is lacking . Meaning a mixture of rain & snow for Philly & NYC , with minimal if any accumulations . Heavy wet snow would be confined to Lehigh valley & Poconos where 6+ inches & up to 12”
A line from Reading to Wilkes -Barre will have the heavier snow with avg amounts of 9-12 inches .
Extreme NW Chester county , upper Bucks , NW Montgomery will have slushy wet snow & under 4 inches .
Philly .. Mix to rain .. little if any acc
NYC .. Slushy 1-2 inches
Boston .. maybe 4-6 ( close call )
Northeast Winds 35mph + will lead to coastal flooding / NO accumulations in SNJ & all coastal areas
Sunday for all WINDY & cold with snowshowers & flurries
KEEP IN MIND ANY CHANGE IN EXACT STORM TRACK WOULD IMPACT SNOW AMOUNTS … this is the way I see it as of 1:46 Pm Wednesday Jan 3rd .. will update X FOLLOWERS through the week
