Mother of Cod! My cartoon this week in @StJohnsTelegram is of federal Minister of Fisheries Joanne Thompson, as she recently announced major changes in the recreational food fishery in much of NL. It’s the first time I sketched her. @Joanne_NL
Here’s a nice DM I received this week from a long-time follower of my cartoons in @StJohnsTelegram
“Kevin… 40 years! We have certainly enjoyed your talent. My wife found this comic while purging old photographs. 2003! Timely with all the Hab’s hype this year.”

The Evening Telegram reported that a new editorial cartoon was starting in the newspaper in January, 1992, by a local cartoonist (yours-truly, without the flies.) It was the beginning of me illustrating 5 cartoons a week in @StJohnsTelegram , for about 20 years.
This weekend, Dennis and Jessie celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with their family. Congratulations! I am so pleased that I was asked to create a caricature painting as an Anniversary gift from the family to mark this occasion.
Cheers to fifty years. @StJohnsTelegram
The Montreal Canadiens made it through with a little help from the hockey gods and a shot from a Newfoundlander. See Kevin Tobin's latest cartoon

Last night, Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper said the Hockey Gods were in the opposing corner, helping the Montreal Canadiens miracle Game 7 win. My editorial cartoon this week in @StJohnsTelegram Kudos to @AlexNewhook_ for scoring the game winner. @MontreaI_NHL
I'm saddened to learn of the passing of SJRFD F/L (and President of Local 1075) Jim O'Toole. His leadership and courage in battling cancer and in advocating for better protection for firefighters nationwide was remarkable.
Condolences to his family, friends, and SJRFD family.
