The Part About Nostalgia (an excerpt from my AI feature film 'Am I?' from 2024) / Ironically, I’m already nostalgic for the AI of just a couple years ago. It feels innocent by today’s standards.

I’ve worked inside machine vision since 1992, and I know what’s in the room. That’s exactly why I take the fears seriously. Some of them point at something real: consent, attribution, whose labor got absorbed. But a lot of what’s now performed as ethics is refusal dressed as principle. And a lot of the rest is the clean pipeline worn as a credential, purity held up from a height as proof of virtue. There are endless ways to steal without going near AI, and endless ways to work with originality and rigor from inside the system. Refusal isn’t the same as integrity.
For all the talk over the past few years about NFTs, one truth keeps coming back to me: I’ve collected unique digital artworks that have made me think, laugh, and feel, in meaningful ways. I will share some here...
