CAD data inputter, former school board member and political junkie. "Soy boy" according to some, although I much prefer oat milk (I also enjoy real milk).
@MatthewFrankKot@AnthonyMEmerson Or Gary Hart doesn't get caught in monkey business four years before a pivotal chunk of people stopped really caring about that (extramarital affairs).
@EarthoOS Assuming modern colors (blue for D and red for R), the 2002 race for Governor had that split (the CD boundaries were somewhat different then, but the Republican won all five counties entirely in CD-1 and lost all the other counties). Of course, that's 24 years ago now.
@JulyinWynter@mattyglesias Jackson implied in a BDN article that some of the other candidates struggled to find enough names and added some people to their slate that he said were 100% behind him. The biggest overlap seemed to be between Bellows and Shah.
@AnthonyMEmerson How many votes did the voters in Cumberland get? 149 (# of delegates) or 179 (# of delegates plus # of alternates)? It was the larger number in Kennebec (48 in our case), which surprised a lot of people, including me.
@mainepilled By "all other candidates", I'm assuming you mean all of the others who seemed to have a shot to begin with (Bellows, Shah and, to be generous, Wood). I think Costello will probably stay in to the bitter end, although there will likely be some pressure on him to withdraw in (1/2)
@mainepilled@status_quo_post Have you checked to see how many of those 44 were also on Shenna Bellows's (2 of the Kennebec winners) and Nirev Shah's (1) slates? Although even discounting those as of questionable loyalty (although maybe Shah and/or Bellows made the error there) I'm sure a large (1/2)
@mainepilled Well, two of the winners were also on Shenna Bellows's slate and one was also on Nirev Shah's slate, so only 37 who were *only* on Troy's slate (and four of the eight alternates were on both Bellows's and Shah's slates, with Shah alone getting three others and Bellows alone one).
@AnthonyMEmerson 5th, while the Jackson-Shah supporter finished 3rd. Craig Hickman is popular enough among Kennebec County Dems to top the poll while only being on Troy Jackson's slate (voters here had up to 48 votes rather than 40 for whatever reason). (2/2)
@AnthonyMEmerson Not as much overlap between the Bellows and Shah slates as I thought. But those who were on both slates (unsurprisingly) often got alternate spots (since loyal supporters of both candidates would have voted for them). The Jackson-Bellows "dual-supporters" finished 2nd and (1/2)
@AnthonyMEmerson I'm hearing that at least one delegate candidate in Kennebec County was on Troy's slate *and* another slate, though, which could be part of why some people are thinking Troy didn't sweep (and who those people would vote for would be more of a question).
@AnthonyMEmerson margin between lowest polling candidate to win a delegate seat and the top alternate, State Rep. Flavia Debrito (D-Waterville) who was on Shenna's slate. Troy also won 22/23 delegate seats and the top alternate in Shenna's "other home county" of Hancock (where she grew up).
Oh yeah, Shenna Bellows grew up in Hancock County and has lived in Kennebec County for years (including representing part of it in the State Senate from 2016 to 2020 when she was elected Secretary of State). #mepolitics
Troy Jackson doing very well overall in the first four counties to report results for the delegate voting. On his slate were 6/9 delegates seats (one winning in a tiebreaker) and the 2nd alternate in Franklin County, 22/23 delegates and the 1st alternate in (1/?) #mepolitics
Hancock County, *40/40* delegates in Kennebec County (with a 27-vote margin between the last delegate and the top alternate who was on Shenna Bellows's slate) and a less dominating 3/9 delegates and the 1st alternate in Washington County. (2/2) #mepolitics
