@LynneeOrien@ABC Where this happened is a 4 lane divided highway, speed limit 45, blind curves, trees in the median that obstruct view of the opposite side. If he darted out, there’s no way the driver could stop. In NC the older child would need to be 12 to accompany the 7 year old w/o an adult.
@MaryLTrump As a lifelong Democrat, I’m admittedly biased. I vehemently opposed Reagan, Bush, and Dubya.
BUT, I never thought of them as white supremacists, and I never doubted their loyalty to our Country and our Constitution. Can't say the same for Trump or those who support his ideology.
@libsoftiktok Omg, people. The photo was cropped from the original so you can’t see the caption. It’s a throwback to spirit week (where everyone dresses in a different theme each day) and this was a nod to the educational show Reading Rainbow. Get a grip!
@Monkeytail2002 @MairiMacGilliv1 Precisely my point. It appears to be fully English with a spelling/usage error that is also a common pet peeve (would of, could of, should of instead of the ‘ve contraction) of English speakers. Her tweet was addressing an American writer so perception matters in this case.
@Monkeytail2002 @MairiMacGilliv1 I’ll grant you that the use of “would of” in the tweet means it’s not fully in English. However, since that is the only use of SSE, I’m sure you can see how it would APPEAR to be an incorrect English spelling rather than a single instance of SSE. In this case, we’re both right.
@Monkeytail2002 @MairiMacGilliv1 I’m not disagreeing with your point about what’s acceptable or correct in Scots or SSE when a Scot is speaking/writing Scots. But her tweeted reply to the author was fully in English with no Scots so the logic for the defense of “would of” in that context doesn’t hold up.
@Monkeytail2002 @MairiMacGilliv1 I agree that Diana ought to retract her ridiculous “clarification” and acknowledge that she’s misinformed about the use of the term “Scotch” but this doesn’t change the fact that “would’ve” is the proper spelling of the contraction for “would have” in Mairi’s reply to the author.
@Monkeytail2002 @MairiMacGilliv1 @Writer_DG Understood, except her entire tweet is in English, not Scots, so using “would of” in this context is simply a phonetic misspelling/misunderstanding of the contraction for “would have”. When one is correcting/chastising a writer, spelling & proper language usage go a long way. 🤷🏼♀️
@jclarkereads I’m listening to The Fourth Time Charm by Maya Hughes. Your narration of LJ’s Morse code 🍆 tapping on Marisa’s hand played while I was in the shower. Two full minutes of you saying “dot dot dot, dot dash dot…” I’m still laughing now thinking about it. 😂
Hey @ABCNetwork What’s with the audio on the broadcast of the ACC Championship game? We can hear the stadium announcer and the pep band better than we can hear your commentators. Check the mix!
@TulsiGabbard Bullshit. It’s the GOP who wants to make one religion the National religion. Dems believe in freedom of religion. We just don’t believe in forcing our religion on everyone else. It’s not that hard to understand.
