Personally, it sounds pretty dystopian to me to live in a world where all labor essential for human living could be automated but isn't, stagnant because inefficiencies in society must be forced to prevail above everything.

Richard and others fail to see how a *general labor machine* is qualitatively distinct from every other form of automation that has been developed in history.

We have historically automated *tasks*, but not *labor* itself

@MidnightJfox If AI really gets better than a human doctor, assuming a full in-person checkup, better judgement and automated testing, I personally wouldn't want my hospital to have me seeing a human, for my own health.

I'm ngl that I don't think that anyone should be thinking about how AI should be made to create more jobs or something, because I do 100% believe that most jobs will go away with AI. I think people should be thinking what a post-labor society looks like.

This is why a lot of trade unionists hate international workers, their biggest boogeyman before AI used to be outsourcing, and often different unions with different incompatible interests compete against each other.

Or one of the most likely things in the near future, which is the replacement of drivers, leading to a world with virtually no traffic accidents and efficient and safe roads even if it costs many millions of driver jobs, and it doesn't happen, it'd be a societal disaster.
