I applaud these men & others on their academic achievements. Fullstop.

I'm personally disappointed that we are seeing more & more doctorates that don't seem to translate to a real impact in society.

People get their PhDs, but we don't see real projects on the ground, linked to their studies.

We don't see businesses founded off the back of their theses/dissertations.

We don't see their works uplifting the poor, fixing governance, lowering inequality, etc.

Doctorates seem to be luxury items, but not practical tools to effect change.

It's even worse for politicians, because they could do more volunteering to do community service on the ground, than spending time researching academic documents.

Yes, I'm hating. Yes, I have no fancy postgraduate qualification. Yes, I have deep issues with schooling as a whole.

But what's the point of educational institutions and endless qualifications, if they aren't solving real problems???
