I hate the why don’t white kids play football discussion because Pitso himself is old enough to remember the white football teams existed during apartheid and as the black teams grew stronger and the game was less racialised white men fell off, and the reason is simple, they could not compete with the sheer amount of Black and coloured talent.

White men prefer sports with systematic exclusion, this is seen globally. Look at Basketball in the US early days vs now, the early days of boxing vs now. Every sport is attractive to them until access is made cheap and easy, then they flee from the sport.

If Rugby were to become as accessible and culturally relevant to black people all over the country as it is in the Eastern Cape they would eventually all move to Golf and Tennis.
