The description matches that of the Bhutangi ones. Although the distinction isn't always clear, but Rajangi and Bhutangi Devatas differ in many ways, the most important being the realms. A Rajangi Devata always has a defined physical realm under its control, much like a king.

He is right. The original Kartikeyapura was somewhere in the Alaknanda Valley, and the capital was later shifted to the Katyur Valley.

Adi Sankara grouped Hinduism into six strains - the Shanmatas - Saiva, Vaishnava, Shakta, Saura, Kaumara and Ganapatya. Of these Saura and Kaumara were wiped out in Muslim invasions. Ganapatya AFAIK was always a sideshow. Forget about which area practiced what. What this simply means is that these six gods are the most popular in Hinduism and they are prayed everywhere - either in their true form or in modified forms. People talk many things. Just ignore and move on.

The Devas of Kartikeypura, popularly known as Katyuris, were four early medieval dynasties that ruled from Kartikeypura in Uttarakhand.
