Let's have a restoration of a "fair go" for all, & a more cohesive society, without rorts, supported by renewable energy and a fed ICAC with teeth. No DM's pls
@ArtistAffame Good luck with your speech Melissa. I am sure you will do well. People who speak from the heart, from actual lived experience, as you do here, always impress. Is ACOSS participating or sending a representative?
Raise the rate of every single Centrelink payment above the poverty line so that everyone on income support has a fighting chance at a good life.
That's it. That's the tweet.
Have to share this. On a tip run in FNQ 30 mins ago I noticed 3 FNP guys struggling to lift an item onto their ute. Young mid 20's tradie in front of me immediately asked if they needed a hand. Yes please. 10 minutes later item loaded, smiles and handshakes all around. Nice! WD.
Literally the one grocery item everyone is talking about is eggs - the lack of them & the extortionate cost. And yet Dutton thinks the cost of a dozen is $4. 🤣 Says everything! #leadersdebate#auspol
Dutton actually believes the ABC & the Observer are "hate media". Many of us, think, the ABC is far too right wing subservient. So then how do we accept the accuracy of Dutton's assessments of say China and our economy etc ? For me his credibility is zero.
@QuentinDempster@PeterDutton_MP@GuardianAus It is far worse than this. Dutton actually believes these two media outlets are "hate media". Many of us, think, the ABC is far too right wing subservient. So how do we accept the accuracy of Dutton's assessments of say China and our economy etc ? For us his credibility is zero.
@ArtistAffame@DavidPocock Some big names are listed as supporters in that article. I understand that Rex Patrick, a former SA Senator is running for the Senate this election as part of the Jackie Lambie Team. I think he may have a chance particularly if people wanting fairer income support voted for him.
@ArtistAffame@DavidPocock Melissa, did you see Emily Wind's comments in today's the Guardian Blog, on the Crossbench urging the next government to increase income support? I think there is more political support for this than I had imagined! Can you access her article?
@ArtistAffame Melissa, you are only just getting started. Congrats on selling one of your designs and for your excellent advocacy on X, for treating the poor and disabled fairly. You want to make a difference and you are! You have courage and conviction and a lot of heart.
@GBTSocScientist As a fellow Qldander, thank you for sharing. And good luck with the operation ahead of you. The MRI's should have been covered. I have always voted ALP, and I accept that they mean well. But your experience shows that we still have a long way to go.
My power bill has never gone up $1300 more in 40 years of paying electricity … why does the LNP keep getting away with this lie ? Nobody queries these figures … WHY ?? #NPC
The most telling thing about this #LeadersDebate was the fact that hardly any of the crowd put their hand up when asked if they were currently doing it tough.
A slap in the face to the “cost of living” crisis that the LNP and media try to blow out of proportion. #auspol
@Kerba190 But I am so pleased to hear that solar is working for you. And thank you for acknowledging that it is. I just hope others acknowledge that it does work for them.
I understand that there are now 3.9 million households in Aust that have installed solar panels ie 36% of all rooftops. Given that they are very successful in significantly reducing, and even eliminating electricity charges, why are not more people coming out in support of solar?
