If you are wondering why a country like Nigeria is so religious?
Nigerians are highly religious due to a combination of historical, cultural, and socio-economic factors.
Here are the main reasons in a concise list:
•Socio-Economic Challenges: Many Nigerians face harsh economic realities, poverty, and inadequate government infrastructure. Religion serves as a vital coping mechanism, offering hope, comfort, and emotional resilience in difficult times.
•Cultural Heritage & Tradition: Long before the arrival of foreign religions, African Traditional Religion (ATR) was deeply embedded in daily life. This spiritual worldview naturally transitioned into modern Christianity and Islam.
•Social Safety Nets: Religious institutions (churches and mosques) often act as welfare centers, providing community support, financial aid, healthcare, and education where the state falls short.
•Colonial & Historical Legacies: The aggressive spread of Islam from the north (via trade and jihads) and Christianity from the south (via European missionaries) firmly entrenched these two major faiths into the country's fabric.
•Identity and Community: In a multi-ethnic nation, religious identity provides a strong sense of belonging and social connection, often superseding national identity.
•Pervasive Influence of Religious Leaders: Clergy members hold immense political, social, and moral authority, heavily influencing public opinion, lifestyle choices, and governance.

Kenya has reported a second Ebola death after a 65 year old patient succumbed to the virus.
She was a direct contact of the first deceased case and had been under treatment in isolation.
What happened at Eastleigh is just a tip of iceberg. The planning and designation of buildings in this country has never always followed the law. It is very painful that seven people are yet to be accounted for majority of them being shop owners. Looking at that building structurally, you can easily spot it's weakness including substandard building metals and cracks. It is shocking that 11 shops were already operational underground in a building that looked soo weak 💔💔😭. It is painful that the department of planning has turned into a money laundering department, only existing to take bribes. We have failed as a country to take care of our people. I am very sad.
