🇺🇸Jefe de la DEA acusa a funcionarios mexicanos de alto nivel de trabajar con los cárteles

Terry Cole, director de la agencia antidrogas de Estados Unidos, aseguró que existe “corrupción gubernamental en México” y que funcionarios de alto nivel colaboran directamente con organizaciones criminales. Al mismo tiempo, reconoció la cooperación con el Gobierno mexicano y destacó la comunicación con Omar García Harfuch.

Cole se refirió a la acusación presentada en abril contra 10 funcionarios y exfuncionarios mexicanos, entre ellos el gobernador con licencia de Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya; el senador Enrique Inzunza Cázares, y el exsecretario estatal de Seguridad, Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, quien se entregó a la justicia estadounidense.

Estados Unidos los acusa de conspirar para traficar drogas y proteger a “Los Chapitos” a cambio de sobornos. El funcionario advirtió que los implicados ya fueron notificados y se encuentran en la lista de prioridades de la DEA.

También lanzó una advertencia a “Los Chapitos”: aseguró que les espera el mismo destino que a Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán e Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, la cadena perpetua.

Cole agregó que Juan Carlos Valencia, “El Pelón”, del CJNG, es actualmente la prioridad número uno de la agencia, y señaló que también están bajo vigilancia los proveedores de precursores químicos procedentes de China.

Cole, previously announced the unsealing of an indictment charging RUBEN ROCHA MOYA, ENRIQUE INZUNZA CAZAREZ, ENRIQUE DIAZ VEGA, DAMASO CASTRO ZAAVEDRA, MARCO ANTONIO ALMANZA AVILES, ALBERTO JORGE CONTRERAS NUNEZ, a/k/a “Cholo,” GERARDO MERIDA SANCHEZ, JOSE ANTONIO DIONISIO HIPOLITO, a/k/a “Tornado,” JUAN DE DIOS GAMEZ MENDIVIL, and JUAN VALENZUELA MILLAN, a/k/a “Juanito,” with drug trafficking and related weapons offenses. 

The defendants are all current or former high-ranking government and law enforcement officials in the Mexican State of Sinaloa, including the current Governor of Sinaloa, RUBEN ROCHA MOYA, and are alleged to have partnered with the Sinaloa Cartel to distribute massive quantities of narcotics to the United States. 

“The Sinaloa Cartel is a ruthless criminal organization that has flooded this community with dangerous drugs for decades,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton.  “As the indictment lays bare, the Sinaloa Cartel, and other drug trafficking organizations like it, would not operate as freely or successfully without corrupt politicians and law enforcement officials on their payroll.  The support of corrupt foreign officials for deadly trafficking of drugs must end.  Let these charges send a clear message to all officials around the globe who work with narco-traffickers: no matter your title or position, we are committed to bringing you to justice.”
