What did he say wrong? When we visit hospitals, we don’t go to Tufton but to the professionals there. We complain about non-performing public sector workers every day here.

In just over a year, the Government has successfully paved 108 roads under the SPARK Programme to an international standard.

We have never done this before as a country. This is a significant achievement that is transforming communities across Jamaica.

The roads are also under warranty so any defect must be corrected by the contractor at no cost to Jamaica.

The full list of completed roads is attached for public review.

Persons can drive across the island to confirm.

We regularly conduct road inspections on Wednesdays and welcome members of the public and the media to join me during these visits.

We also fully appreciate that the portfolio I inherited came with longstanding challenges and high public expectations. However, I remain committed to improving Jamaica’s road network and leaving it in a better condition than I found it.

As a Jamaican whose family, future, and investment are rooted here, I will never accept poor workmanship, inferior materials, or anything less than the quality our people deserve.

The SPARK Programme has delivered better roads to communities across the island in record time, and that is something we should all acknowledge and celebrate.

While continued scrutiny is important and welcomed, the progress achieved through the programme also deserves recognition.

The National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority (NaRRA) is a newly established national agency mandated to support Jamaica’s recovery, reconstruction, and long-term resilience planning.

Its work focuses on strengthening coordination across key sectors, improving delivery systems, and ensuring that national recovery efforts are structured, efficient, and sustainable.

This afternoon, I met with the CEO, Ambassador Antony Anderson, to engage on NaRRA’s vision and mission at this early stage of development. The discussion centred on building institutional knowledge and technical expertise within NaRRA, with a strong emphasis on training and leadership development.

As a new entity, there is a clear opportunity to shape a strong foundation of capability, developing managers and executives who are equipped with the skills, judgment, and capacity to deliver complex programmes effectively.

We also focused on strengthening execution across all levels of the Agency, ensuring that systems are designed to support efficiency, speed, and clear implementation of priorities.

This early phase of NaRRA’s development is about building structure, strengthening human capital, and establishing the standards that will guide its long-term impact in national reconstruction and resilience efforts.

I wish Ambassador Antony Anderson every success as he leads this important work in building a strong foundation for national resilience and long-term development.
