IFP NEC members and KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Hon. Rev. Thulasizwe Buthelezi, handed over permanent, fully furnished homes today to families in Mbumbulu who lost their houses during the devastating 2025 floods.

Constructed through the Disaster Management Programme, these newly built homes are fully furnished and connected to water, allowing the beneficiaries to move in and settle immediately.

Speaking in Mbumbulu, Shenge emphasised that this initiative demonstrates the government's steadfast commitment to delivering basic services and restoring the dignity of affected households.

Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi attended the traditional custom of Ukuthela Amanzi for six Amakhosi on at the eMashobeni Royal Palace in Nongoma. The ceremony was led by His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.

Ukuthela Amanzi is a key rite that precedes the formal installation of Amakhosi. It signifies spiritual cleansing and strengthens the relationship between the Amakhosi and the Royal House.

Hon. Buthelezi noted the ceremony reflects alignment between tradition and governance in advancing rural development.

IFP In Parliament | SASSA Petition by Senior Citizens
During the consideration of the Portfolio Committee on Social Development's report on a petition submitted by senior citizens in the Western Cape, Hon. Bushaphi Machi, IFP Deputy Chief Whip reaffirmed the IFP’s commitment to protecting the dignity and wellbeing of South Africa's elderly citizens.

She expressed concern over reports of long queues, delays in grant-related processes, poor communication and instances where beneficiaries are not treated with the respect and dignity they deserve when accessing social assistance services.

The IFP believes that an effective social assistance system must not only provide financial support, but must also safeguard the dignity, respect and wellbeing of those it serves.
