Karl Jettmar discovered 16th-century engravings of a ghurba (rubab) carved on a rock in Yasin, #GilgitBaltistan.

These images were made by #Ismaili preachers who came m from the #Pamir region, and they represent the earliest traces of Islam in this area.

In Kafiristan (today's Nuristan), silver cups were used by the pagans to pour and drink #wine. Each such cup was worth the price of 30 goats. These vessels symbolized wealth, and were given as dowry to brides.
