One of my favorite characters and trailers from Honkai: Star Rail, I have grown to love this interaction with Jing Yuan and Yanqing, trying out his voice is very fun, I love the cadence he brings to the game and to this specific trailer. Day 30: Magical Adult🧝‍♂️| 30 Day Character VO Challenge #voiceacting #voiceoverchallenge

The final day is upon us! I tried as hard as possible for the last day and yet I still have a yearning to improve more and more even after this! The Magical Adult was super fun, I went with a take where I was explaining who I am my best friend the day after having to reveal my identity to them while saving them from a vampire attack. I wanted them to know I am still Moto Tsukino, I just have a secret that I didn't feel the need to share! I wanted it to feel like the person watching is his best friend and you feel comfortable and safe around him even after he shows you his real powers.

The spy was a really fun character! He is witty and confident, and he loves fighting. He is also someone who loves the weather during the day, and turns into a spy at night, fighting evil and anyone stupid enough to get in his way. This takes place in a fighting game, so I tried to make the quips quick and annoying to listen to, as if you were hearing them while losing to him on the other side. I love playing cocky characters like this, and I was really proud of this one!

Day 28: Mentor Warrior🥷| 30 Day Character VO Challenge #voiceacting #voiceoverchallenge

I love playing these mentors that are almost noble and wise in their own very unique ways. This character seems like he would almost never show emotion unless completely overwhelmed by a certain feeling, which is why on the last line, knowing that the Warrior I spent the last few lines (most likely months or years training) could potentially lose a battle and even be lost in the process. The mentor is quick to gather his emotions for other people's sakes as he doesn't want them to worry much. I made sure to show that in my read!

This character was quite hard for me surprisingly, as I did not know how creepy to go. I did multiple takes with different voices and decided this one was paced well enough and got the right vibe I was trying to give off. I will leave it up to interpretation the type of vibe I was going with, but finding that initial voice was pretty difficult!

I wanted to make the chef a very welcoming character, but I wanted to add some depth to his lines to make it feel like when he is talking in his garden, he is only really talking to himself, and his vegetables. This gives him a sort of crazy-like vibe where he is innocently personifying inanimate objects because it is hard to have a true conversation because of the state of the world, and when other people come to eat his food, he is always ecstatic and does everything in his power to give them top tier service.

Day 25: Bun Bun The Destroyer🐰| 30 Day Character VO Challenge #voiceacting #voiceoverchallenge

Bun Bun was a really fun character to do! Definitely out of my comfort zone, but I think this archetype is refreshing. Sometimes it's good to play a comedic relief character or a character who is so naive and innocent. Bun Bun does NOT understand how terrifying he is, which makes it so much more funny!

Day 24: Joey and the Mayor🦆| 30 Day Character VO Challenge #voiceacting #voiceoverchallenge

This was a script with 2 POVs, and I decided to record both, as I can take all the practice I can get, and it helps tie it together when listening without looking at the script! I will put the focus on Joey though!

Joey was one of those characters that I feel would invent the word "ragebait" in a fantasy setting. It is so hard to get anything serious to come out of his mouth, and whenever it does, it is always met with skepticism because no one expects it. Joey just does whatever he feels like doing, he's either drunk and getting into trouble, or sober and getting into trouble. I decided to make this take almost like he was recounting a memory from when he was wasted, but still laughing about it as he was sober.

I had fun with this one but was so stumped on the walking, jogging, and running efforts. Efforts in general have been difficult for me, because when I do sounds like that, I feel like most of the time I default to my own voice and my own mannerisms because my body isn't used to doing efforts with another personality if that makes sense. It's a WHOLE different level of acting! This tested me, and I tried my best! Still very fun though! I treated the traveler as almost like a generic main character with a little bit of a problem reading social cues or understanding when he says something that is a little out of line. He is definitely a bit self centered, but can also be goofy and genuinely care about things. He doesn't want to get too attached though because he may just lose it....

Day 22: Wise Sage from a Dying World🌍| 30 Day Character VO Challenge #voiceacting #voiceoverchallenge

I haven't done an old voice in SO long, so it took me a few takes, but I think I have one that I am happy with! This old Sage is someone who has a sense of humor, laughs at the irony of his statements, and although he may not be a very angry person, he is very wise, and can appear melancholic and sad quite often. No one really knows whether he is truly sad or not since his words are not indicative of it.

I LOVEE playing characters like this, I think they are so fun. I actually messed up one of the lines and kept it in for comedic effect since I feel like I stayed in character after messing it up and got right back into it, I think it unintentionally added some depth to him and made it more realistic. That's the fun in voice acting, you can make almost anything work if it fits the character, and just have some fun with it! I tried to also escalate the speech from making everyone believe, to getting everyone hyped up!

Day 20: The Preschool Helper🐶| 30 Day Character VO Challenge #voiceacting #voiceoverchallenge

I had a very hard time with a high-pitched dog voice. If I am ever imitating a dog, it's always a low-pitched big dog like a newfoundland, kind of like Bond from Spy X Family. This was not my proudest work but I do think I did better than my first initial expectation when I read the lines! All of them can't be winners, now I know this might not be a character I would play in my career! It's all a learning process :)
