For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026.
At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikes—120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day.
It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime.

Please share this story with as many people as you can.
This is hugely problematic.
A Liberal MP was removed by PM Carney’s office from his position as parliamentary secretary to the minister of veterans affairs bc he supported an bill that sought to close loopholes that allow Canada to send weapons to Israel:

Trump and Netanyahu's repugnant displays at the UN, in which they boasted of war crimes and threatened genocide, would not have been possible without ostensibly liberal accomplices like Canada's Mark Carney
They are all cut from the same cloth
So this performative nonsense is meant to distract from the fact that hundreds of NYPD vehicles escorted Netanyahu to the UN today, giving him a grander welcome than most, if not all, heads of state. Meanwhile the NYPD was arresting anti-genocide protesters in the streets.
A far cry from campaigning on arresting Netanyahu. Now he won’t arrest him, won’t protest him, and says he doesn’t even encourage New Yorkers to protest.
But peace & olive trees 🫒✌️
Jeremy: "Do Palestinians have the right to attack Israeli soldiers?"
Ro: No
Jeremy: "Does Israel have a right to drop a single bomb on Gaza?"
Ro: Yes
This is really the ball game
Western chauvinism in a nutshell. You can go to Iraq, kill, torture, and rape brown people, but lay a hand/sexually assaulting a white woman, and suddenly everyone discovers your "propensity for violence." That wasnt made clear previously🤨🤨🤨🤨 Colonial logic has always worked this way: violence against the colonized is normalized; violence within the imperial core is the real moral scandal cause this is the civilized society🙄🙄🙄.
Politician rapes woman and murders innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan.
American leftists: 'i'm sorry, but do we want a working class party or not?'
It became obligatory in left-Dem politics to call what Israel did a "genocide." Many who clearly don't really believe that complied.
AOC is an example. The point of "genocide" is that it's the worst crime against humanity. Yet she endorses Hakeem Jeffries: one of the House's most stalwart Israel loyalists who financed, armed and defended genocide. Nobody who actually believes it's a "genocide" would work to empower those who perpetrated it:
It is so powerful to watch tens of thousands of Bosnians – whose people survived genocide – marching the streets of Toronto, supporting Palestinians – who are currently fighting to survive genocide.

Honestly, Mamdani and his PR team are incredibly savvy. They're doing exactly what they promised: rebuilding the people’s trust in government, but through perception first.
Take the Israeli parade. First, he announces he'll be skipping it. That dominates headlines and reinforces the image of a mayor willing to take a bold stand, even at political risk. People who were skeptical start questioning their skepticism because the move feels authentic and principled.
Then, after that positive perception takes hold, you get something like the video below. He still announces that he won't attend the parade himself, so he keeps the positive publicity. But at the same time, he says he'll send a member of his administration instead: Jessica Tisch, whom he chose to retain despite her family's well-known ties to Netanyahu.
Most people won't notice the distinction. A small number like myself will criticize it, but by then the mass deception has already been established. The public focus shifts from scrutinizing the contradiction to defending the image of a "principled mayor." The net result is growing support, deeper belief in the system, and no political cost for it.
This is the same pattern I saw with his pro-Palestinian messaging. "Free Palestine" goes viral, his supporters rally behind him, and his popularity grows. Then later, he starts saying in interviews that “Israel has a right to exist.”
When I called it out and challenged him directly, the base had already been manipulated into a loyal following built around a radical image of him. Only months later did my criticism start to go mainstream, but by then the cycle had already reset and repeated itself.
That's what makes the strategy so effective. The headline-grabbing position comes first. The nuance comes later. By the time people notice the difference, the public perception has already been set and he’s onto the next thing.
Canadians may not realize it now or anytime soon.
But years from now, they will realize Carney used Trump as a trojan horse to decimate our social safety net.
Corporations and CEOs will have more control over our lives than we could have ever imagined.
Here we go again. When people pushed Kamala to change her position, you threw yourself between them to protect Kamala. And now, instead of telling AOC to budge, which would drastically improve her viability, you are pushing her into the same trap you pushed Kamala into.
"AOC, don't change, it is the people who must change."
All Kamala had to do was go through dem primaries and acknowledge the genocide. But that was too much for her.
Now for AOC the "stupid extreme leftists" must change, God forbid AOC is asked to clarify her position. Those seeking power must never give an inch.
“One of the things I find very disturbing is when they’re bombing Venezuelan boats in the Caribbean, you have two [sets of] people talking on western media. One says we should bomb them and get rid of them and take their oil. And the other group days: ‘Well, Maduro is evil and it’s a dictatorship,’ but we should know for me there is no difference between these two…Who are you to say Maduro is evil. Go and say your own government is evil.” - @s_m_marandi
