Drawing great comic book characters is about more than just nailing their proportions, anatomy and design. Those things? They're cosmetics, and you could argue, comics being a visual medium and all, that it IS the 'look' that matters most!
But it's not.
Because once you've figured out their 'look', you've got to breathe life into them - and you can only do that through the way they move... the poses and expressions you give them.
Most artists? They wind out with stiff looking characters that look like they've got Rigor mortis instead. Literal stiffs, that feel rigid and awkward, with no real vitality.
What makes the difference? How do you stop drawing lifeless looking characters, and give them a soul - with high-octine, energetic poses that make them feel more powerful and alive than ever before!?
That's what we're talking about in this lesson, where we discuss the important role of gesture, keeping your poses loose, and feeling the movement, weight and momentum of your characters as you draw them.
By the time you've completed this lesson, you'll have all you need to push the poses of your characters just that little bit more, while avoiding unnatural, robotic looking movements.
