Man Of God, Advocate: Traumatic Brain Injuries In Sports, Being a Survivor Myself, Fighting Brain Disease Battles - South Africa. Born To Glorify God!!!
Awful that Etzebeth is suffering from symptoms of concussion but how fantastic to see a club being so transparent about it and taking it so seriously.
An example for others to follow.
Rugby is the greatest game on the planet with numerous benefits including health, teamwork and confidence.
It’s not about trashing the sport, it’s about taking reasonable steps to reduce the risk to brain health so players can enjoy life after the game.

🇿🇦Kiebie Smith was the first South African player to be diagnosed with early onset dementia & probable CTE.
He went public, not for sympathy or legal reasons, but to give others who are struggling the strength they need to ask for support they may need.

They wouldn’t let you do it these days
A watershed moment is long overdue. I hope for the day when i turn on the news and, much like the NFL moment of reckoning, there is acceptance from World Rugby that this issue has to be addressed, past problems are admitted to and there's a real consensus to move forward.
This was one of the toughest articles I wrote during the concussion campaign at the MoS. It ran in Dec 2016, the same day we reported on George North being allowed to play on for Northampton having been knocked unconscious for the umpteenth time. #concussed

Rugby Injuries by Tony Dunnill and Muir Gray (1982).
We can’t vouch for this treatment because there’s not sufficient research, but what we can say is we’ve been delighted to see a positive change in both Alix’s speech and concentration in the past 18 months.
Hopefully we’ll see some peer-reviewed evidence soon.

20 years ago today, Wallaby prop Ben Darwin lost feeling in his limbs and screamed “neck, neck, neck" after packing down against All Black rival Kees Meeuws at RWC2003.
Kees’ decision to immediately stop pushing prevented irreversible damage and may even have saved Ben’s life 👏🏻
