The talent drain is exponential and seemingly unstoppable at this point. So, the relentless focus on hugely expensive HETV above all else is rubbing salt into the wounds of those who simply want a chance to make a modest living doing what they love.

River City was my first tv job and I absolutely love working there to this day. From working up through evening ingest shifts to becoming an editor, I’ve had so many opportunities through the amazing folk I’ve met.
After over 20 years telling the stories of the characters in Shieldinch, we’re sorry to bring you the sad news that River City will come to an end in Sept 2026. We're thankful to our amazing viewers, fans, cast, crew, writers & producers who are all a valued part of the community
Devastated by this news. River City championed new talent for years across all departments and now that pathway for new entrants into continuing drama ends today.
Working down in England for the first time and eeeh, I wish it had been timed better shall we say. Lot’s of horrible stuff happening too close for comfort.
