I've been making friends over the last three days with a praying mantis that is residing on my porch sliding glass doors. Today I fed them some aphids, they are warming up to me.

The crows now hang out in the morning cawing in the trees until I put out their peanuts. My crow caw is getting better or at least they know it is me saying hey peanuts are out. No shiny objects yet, but feel like we are making progress.
