One of the big themes in this class is how crucial community assets are to the residents, especially for rural communities. Rural communities are often underserved, but through community building things can improve. #SOWK35021

This week I learned about photo mapping and how helpful it can be for social workers in the field. This tool can help social workers locate resources for clients, and help guide clients when they are looking for related resources. #SOWK35021

@gina_pisano This is so important. Even here in the US, places like Flint, Michigan do not have potable water. Drinking water is such a commodity that we often forget it is a luxury for developing areas. #SOWK35021

Human trafficking is a global issue that is not as publicized as it should be. People should not have to fear for their safety everytime they leave their homes, and trafficking is one of the biggest reasons for fear presently. #SOWK35021

@MadisonVitale2 We grew up in such different places! My high school was close to a 45 minute bus ride away from my home, and my closest neighbor is 1/4 mile from my home! It sounds like you had a really enmeshed neighborhood! #SOWK35021

I live outside of a small town called Salt Rock, located in Cabell County, WV. Living on the outskirts of town, I would describe the neighborhood as remote, lower-working class, and isolated. My closest neighbor is over a 1/4 mile away from my home if that helps. #SOWK35021

This infographic relates to HBSE social work issues because of the overarching effects opiod addiction has on communities, government resources, and private resources such as insurance agencies, along with the micro and mezzo level effects.
